"Reach Home" is a cozy and romantic cottage gracing the shores of Eggemoggin Reach. The home is situated on
Green's Way, a side street branching
off of Ferry Landing Road. Once the gateway to ferry crossings
providing the primary access from the mainland to the island of Deer Isle,
Ferry Landing was relegated to a quiet lane with the completion of the
Deer Isle Bridge in 1937. This grand suspension
bridge is now enjoyed in distant views, it's grand, green, arching steel
connecting Deer Isle to the mainland, and leaving forgotten the earlier
days of ferry travel from Ferry Landing Road.
Two Living Areas
The interior of "Reach Home" exudes a natural warmth and coziness.
An open floor plan with ample windows captures the surrounding lush forested
setting and ocean vista beyond. Two living areas and 3 spacious
bedrooms offer room to spread out. A soaring brick fireplace reaches
in to the cathedral ceilings, where cross beams are decorated with assorted
baskets and knick-knacks, as is the rest of the cottage beautifully adorned
with collectibles and notable artwork.
Roaring fires can be enjoyed
from all the main living areas, including the open dining and
kitchen area. A large oak table seats six comfortably, or
step out the sliding glass doors and picnic on the the wrap around deck.
"Reach Home" is perfectly situated to take advantage of the wide ranging
activities of Deer Isle and the Blue Hill Peninsula. Located in
Sargentville, it is but a quick drive over the bridge to Stonington & Deer Isle, to a variety
of destinations on the peninsula (including Castine & Blue Hill), or easy day trips to Bar Harbor and
Acadia.
