Loon Sound Cottage blends the enjoyment of both fresh water and coastal environments. While gracing the shores of Toddy Pond, a nearly 2000 acre, 10 mile long lake, Loon Sound Cottage is but a short drive away from two of Maine’s most spectacular coastal regions, east to Bar Harbor/Acadia, or south to the Blue Hill Peninsula (including Blue Hill, Castine, Deer Isle, and Stonington).

This charming cottage rests below a canopy of evergreen trees, situated to take advantage of this serene lakeside setting. An open living room and kitchen, with the recent addition of a bank of six windows, captures the sparkling blue waters of the lake.

An adorable bedroom offers a comfortable queen sized bed, with its bead board walls adding older charm. A full sized futon in the living rooms offers added room for accompanying guests. The lakeside screened porch provides another venue for enjoying the beautiful surroundings, where the soothing calls of loons are to be enjoyed again and again.

A short, winding pathway carries you down to the beachfront, where a picnic area, complete with picnic table, offers a great place to relax or feast at the water’s edge. A dock makes boat access easy, or provides a great place to jump in to the fresh water or cast a reel to catch your evening’s meal. The sandy bottoms of the shoreline provide for excellent swimming in clean, clear water.

Toddy Pond itself provides a unique mix of water activities: swimming, canoeing, kayaking, boating, skiing and excellent fishing. Its mix of deep, cool waters, (with depths reaching 122 feet) and warmer coves and inlets house such cool water fish as landlocked salmon and lake trout, while warm water fish such as large and small mouth bass, perch and pickerel abound.
