The Homestead is an enchanting cottage situated near the top of the hillside of Greenhead, a charming neighborhood bordering the western side of Stonington Harbor. Lovingly built by a fisherman for his family in 1950, the home has all the allure of this earlier period, yet recent renovations include many modern conveniences. The interior is delightful – a bouquet of soft colors, stylish décor and comfortable furnishings – exuding warmth and cheeriness. A large great room is spacious and airy – comprising the living room, dining area and kitchen. Two adorable bedrooms afford accommodations for up to four. A third bedroom is used as a TV room with plush couch, additional seating, and cable television. A collection of books and DVDs offer an added outlet for relaxation and entertainment. Ample windows and glass doors throughout the home insure light-filled rooms, and impressive views of town and glimpses of Stonington Harbor!!

The Homestead’s elevated position provides for panoramic views over much of the village of Stonington and its adjacent harbor, overlooking this active seaside town. The back and side yard provide for a quieter escape within its private woodland setting. The surrounding spruce-clad forest is full of mossy foot-paths meandering around granite boulders, with outstretched branches providing shade from the warm summer sun, whispering and swaying in the soft ocean breezes. Sit on the wrap around deck to be entertained by squirrels and chipmunks as they frolic in the summer’s warmth, while a nearby frog pond imparts an evening chorus of melodic frogs.

The large, wrap-around deck captures the surrounding beauty, and cedes a nice vantage to warm in the summer’s sun, absorb the fresh ocean breezes, and oversee the ships and lobster boats as they traverse Stonington’s lively harbor. Or enjoy cooking outside on either of the available gas or charcoal grills.

Note: There are 3 friendly neighboring dogs (2 german shepards, 1 great dane/lab mix) who are gentle, and might come over for a friendly "visit" when you are out in the yard. They are not a nuisance, and are very quiet. We only mention this for guests who are afraid of dogs, even friendly dogs!!
